Quito again

We returned to Quito last night after a very successful Galapagos section of the trip. We had magnificent snorkelling in warm waters and saw many wonderful sights including dolphins at our bow on the last day! We are off to the Otavalo region (north of Quito) today and then to the Cotopaxi region (South of Quito) on Sunday. I expect that some shopping for souvenirs in in the offing!

Puerto Bacquerizo Moreno

We are in port for the afternoopn in the sleepy capital of the Galapagos. We had a nice visit to an interpretation centre and a wander through the village. We have had wonderful land excursions and great snorkelling in waters ranging from 25 to 28 C!

Academy Bay

We are in Academy Bay on santa Cruz island in the Galapagos. It is quite hot here! Water was 28C and the air is any where from around 25 to 35 C! We have had some great snorkels and walks.

Arrival

After 9 hours in the air and several more in airports, we have arrived safely at our base in Quito - The Fuente de Piedra I hotel. All the bags arrived too so we are set to head east to the Amazon basin tomorrow morning for 4 days. I will be testing out the SPOT device soon!

Two more days to go!

Well, two more days to go and we are excited to be almost on our way. Much time is being spent packing, organising and repacking. We leave the school at 14:50 and will be heading to Ecuador via Seattle and Houston, arriving in Quito in the evening of March 13th.

The SPOT stallite tracker (http://findmespot.com/) will be posting the OK messages to this blog as we move around. I hope that we will have one or two position postings per day.
